Strictness of dataset utilization and industry categories?

Is it absolutely required to use one of the provided datasets?

Similarly, is it required to develop a project that follows the description of a given industry category, or is it okay to develop a project that is not exactly like the description but is still reasonably within the given industry category?

    no, it isn't required to use the provided datasets. yes, it is okay to develop a project but within industry category
